Waterfall at Madhe Ghat

Waterfall at Madhe Ghat

It had been raining pretty heavily for past 4-5 days and hence we opted to drive down to Pabe ghat, and further up-to Velhe village. A friend also suggested to go and visit the Madhe ghat waterfall as it was 19 Kms from Velhe village. We started at around 7:15 am and took the Sinhagad road. One can also take the NH-4 highway via Katraj but the drive via Sinhagad a surely picturesque and since we are into birding as well, it gave us that extra chance to see some birds along the way. We took our 1st break at Khadakwasla where we had tea and vada pav. As always we saw the Kingfisher and Cormorants at Khadakwasla. Read more

Monsoon trek to Purandar Fort

It was just around three weeks since our last trek however it felt as if couple of months had passed by. Hence we decided to go for a relatively easy trek to Purandar fort. We even planned to cover Vajragad fort on the same day as we may finish early, however we were in for a pleasant surprise. Read more

Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park

This trip was probably my 1st interaction with nature and wildlife. We were just planning out which places we should visit in north as we had to attend a close friend’s wedding in Delhi and Ranthambore just happened! It was actually part of a full 5 day trip where unfortunately we had allocated just a day’s stay at Ranthambore. We boarded our train from Mumbai Central which reached Kota at around 4 AM. Read more

drive to Tamhini ghat…

drive to Tamhini ghat…

This trip was due long time; and we finally started off for Tamhini ghats on Sunday at around 7:30 AM from Pune. The weather in Pune seemed to be overcast and sunny for most of the times; however we still hoped to get some rains at Tamhini. Another reason to go to Tamhini was to see the colourful Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher. As soon as we crossed Paud, we could see the lovely green paddy field all along the way. It did seem the area had got some rain in last couple of days. We stopped at couple of places to take some shots of swallows and black drongos. Read more

Trek to Lohagad Fort

Trek to Lohagad Fort

Monsoon season is invariably the trekking season, so we decided to head to Lohagad Fort for our 2nd trek of the season. We started a bit late this time; at around 7:30 AM and reached Bhaje village at 8:30 AM.
We planned to park our car at Bhaje village and trek to Lohagad; however if you wish you may drive all the way to Lohagadwadi (Base of Lohagad Fort). Distance between Bhaje village & Lohagadwadi is around 4 KMs. Don’t worry on the parking front as there is ample parking space; at Lohagadwadi as well as at Bhaje village. Read more
