Being our final trip in US before we headed back to India we tried to maximise this short two day trip as much as possible, hence managed to squeeze in three destinations – Orlando Wetlands Park, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and the NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
We had just been back from our amazing trip to San Francisco & Monterey and just before our return journey back to India, we managed to squeeze another short two day trip in US – this time to the famous NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Florida along with short visits to Orlando Wetlands Park & Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.
We decided to explore the Tamhini region this saturday (31st March 2018), and it was very typical of Tamhini – some really good sightings but hardly any clicks. We saw 40+ species in total with one of the highlights being a flock of White-rumped Munia feeding in dry grass as well as 4 pigeon/dove species – Niligiri Wood Pigeon, Oriental Turtle Dove, Yellow-footed Green Pigeon & Emerald Dove.
This saturday (24th March 2018), we were off to Veer Dam. Activity seemed relatively low as compared to our previous trip a month back. Key sightings included the Indian Thick-knee and a Common Hawk-Cuckoo – the 1st individual we sighted this season with a total of 50+ bird species. Read more
