A weekend getaway to Bhigwan & Veer dam – this tour with Wild India Eco Tours was the 1st of 2016. This was probably the most awaited bird-watching trip of 2015 with Wild India Eco Tours; a full 3 day bird-watching in the Goa. It was yet another bird-watching session in Pune outskirts; and again in the arid grassland habitats. Its been around 6-8 months we have been visiting these habitats and we have been pleasantly surprised with the wide variety of wildlife these grasslands have to offer. This time was no different, rather it was our best outing in the grasslands till date as we got blessed by nature to observe the Apex predator of grasslands –  Indian Wolf (Canis lupus pallipes). The winter has arrived and so have the migratory birds. A quick bird-watching excursion to Akshi beach resulted in observing some lovely bird species which included four lifers – Great Knots, Bar-tailed Godwit, Dunlin and Caspian Gulls. Some other key highlights were the Terek & Curlew Sandpipers, Whimbrel, Whiskered Terns and Ruddy Turnstones.  Read more

Nature has its own way of things.. and we did come across one such unique wildlife moment during a recent bird-watching trip. It was a regular bird-watching outing on a weekend and with Amur falcons on their migration path to Africa, me and my friend Sandip were off to Pune-outskirts to try our luck.
